Matt Damon is no honourary Aussie! Chris Hemsworth joked that he had to send the Downsizing star home from Australia after the actor had a run-in with a massive snake. Back in early April, fans were lapping up every glimpse of the famous friends enjoying a beachy joint family vacation Down Under. But it wasn't all fun and games, and a jellyfish scare and unwelcome reptile had Matt running for the airport.
"We pull up to a cafe, he gets out of the car, takes one step and takes a six-foot leap backwards," the Avengers: Infinity War star explained to Ellen DeGeneres. Having promised Matt that he wouldn't be bothered by the country's dangerous creatures, the duo was, of course, confronted by a very large snake. “I was like, ‘You’re the problem,’" joked Chris. "So, we’ve had to kick him out of Australia for our sake.”
While it was mostly beers and beach for the actors and their broods, including a stop at the Byron Bay Blues Festival, Matt's six-year-old daughter Stella also had a frightening run-in with a local animal - a jellyfish. “It was the worst thing,” Matt, 47, said during an earlier appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show. “Even Chris said, ‘Mate, that’s the worst thing I’ve ever seen in my life.’ It was really bad.”
It remains to be seen whether Matt, his wife Luciana Barroso and their four daughters will take Chris, wife Elsa Pataky and their three kids up on their next hosting offer. Plus, the 34-year-old might not have much downtime for a while. He's currently jetting around doing press for the highly anticipated Marvel film in which he reprises his role as Thor, which hits theatres on April 27.
Perhaps to try to loosen his lips on some Avengers tidbits, Ellen treated fans to a retrospective of Chris's "Body of Work" - an ode to his best shirtless moments as Thor. While the actor refused to divulge any details, the tribute was fitting as he's not sure he'll be back for another run. “This is number 19, who knows if we’re ever going to do it again, or who’s coming back? It was a great appreciation from everyone. It was like, ‘Wow, this is a pretty iconic moment.'”
