Blissed out Maggie prepares to welcome baby

Taking a walk in the New York sunshine, parents-to-be Maggie Gyllenhaal and fiancé Peter Sarsgaard seem pretty content with life - and each other. The hotshot acting duo are gearing up to welcome their first baby in October and were clearly intent on making the most of their last few footloose, fancy-free months as they strolled near their home in the city's West Village this week.

Talented Maggie has been dating the 35-year-old actor, one of the stars of last year's Jarhead alongside her Oscar-nominated brother Jake, since 2003. Although her parents married when her mum was six months pregnant, the attractive brunette prefers to wait until she can wear her fantasy wedding dress. "I want the fairytale", she declares.

On the professional front it's been a hectic time for the actress, who has five films set to hit the cinema, including Oliver Stone-directed picture World Trade Center and romantic comedyTrust The Man with Julianne Moore and David Duchovny. But for now she plans to sit back and enjoy her pregnancy. After some initial morning sickness, the expectant mum says she's "blissed out". "It's part of it, all the hormones. It feels great. It's a real intense experience."

There are tentative plans for Maggie and her partner to one day share the silver screen, just as long as the parts are right. "Peter always says we shouldn't play lovers," she giggles. "He wants to do something from the Forties - where there's a spark between us, but we don't ever get together. Or we do for a second, and then I slap him."
