Brittany and Kristin heat up 'frosty' festive launches

A roll call of Hollywood's hottest talent descended on Los Angeles last weekend as three films enjoyed their Stateside premieres. Sarah Jessica Parker was getting into the festive spirit on Sunday night at the Deck The Halls premiere where she was supporting husband Matthew Broderick and Sex And The City pal Kristin Davis.

Danny De Vito, who also stars in the family comedy, and his wife, Cheers actress Rhea Pearlman, were among the other famous faces stepping out onto the customised white carpet complete with glistening Christmas trees and snowmen.

Guests at a screening of animated adventure Happy Feet hosted on the same day got a similarly frosty reception as wind machines blew fake snow over the white carpet and penguins waddled about.

The movie, about a colony of singing penguins in Antartica, features the voices of comic talent Robin Williams, who attended with daughter Zelda, Brittany Murphy and Elijah Wood. Missing from the line-up were Aussie stars Nicole Kidman - currently supporting husband Keith Urban while he undergoes rehab - and Hugh Jackman. The pair play the parents of clumsy Mumble, aka Elijah - an ostracised penguin who can't sing but has a talent for tap-dancing.

Meanwhile, Brit actress Rachel Weisz stepped out the previous evening for a screening of The Fountain with her partner Darren Aronofsky and co-star Hugh Jackman. Although the sci-fi flick - which is directed by Darren - received less than enthusiastic reviews when it first premiered at the Venice Film Festival, the film's leads had clearly put that reception behind them as they presented the film to American audiences at the weekend.
