Idris Elba appeared thrilled to be back on the set of his BBC1 crime drama Luther on Sunday. The actor, who plays the lead character Detective Chief Inspector John Luther, is filming two new episodes of the show to be aired towards the end of the year.
"First day back to set of John Luther….stand by East London", he wrote alongside a picture of himself sticking his thumb up for the camera.
Towards the end of 2014 It was announced that the drama, which is about to be remade in America, would return with two special episodes in 2015.

The show's writer, Neil Cross, said: "Ever since we said goodbye to John Luther on Southwark Bridge, there's hardly been a minute where I didn't wonder what happened next.
"So I decided to find out. We're putting the band back together; Luther is coming back where he belongs. Back to the BBC. Back to London. And back to work."
Idris Elba has achieved great success since appearing in the crime drama, and was recently tipped to take over the role of James Bond when Daniel Craig steps down.

The 42-year-old received endorsement from former 007 Pierce Brosnan, who said he thought Idris would make a good James Bond.
Pierce isn't the first star to endorse the London-born actor for the job; Kanye West also said the casting would be "visionary".
The US rapper told The Sun: "I know Idris a little bit and he is a big talent. The movies he has been making are special, and when the role for James Bond comes up it needs to be his."
Idris has largely been quiet about the rumours, however in December he posted another photo poking fun at the endless speculation. "007 is supposed to be handsome? Glad you think I've got a shot!" he wrote.
