Coldplay unveil hilarious Game of Thrones musical for Red Nose Day USA

Chris Martin might be best known for his musical talent, but he clearly has a great sense of humour too. The singer and his Coldplay bandmates decided to take part in the inaugural Red Nose Day USA event this week, by creating a hilarious behind-the-scenes mockumentary look at their fictional Game of Thrones musical.The 12-minute video shows Chris and the band working to create songs and try and recruit the cast of the hit HBO fantasy series for their Broadway production.

After a rocky start, the appearance of Kit Harington (Jon Snow) and the promise of free food convinces some of Game of Thrones most famous faces to take part – including Nikolaj Coster-Waldau (Jamie Lannister), Emilia Clarke (Daenerys Targaryen) who is convinced to record Rastafarian Targaryen, and Peter Dinklage (Tyrion Lannister) who sings A Man For All Seasons (Still Going Strong).Also participating in the project are Alfie Allen (Theon Greyjoy), Charlotte Pope (Myranda), Iwan Rheon (Ramsay Bolton). Kit performs a 'Wildling' twist on The Trogg's hit song Wild Thing, and there's even an upbeat number about the infamous bloody Red Wedding.

Unfortunately Coldplay's hopes of a Game of Thrones musical are dashed at the last minute, when author George RR Martin decides not to grant permission for a stage adaptation. But Chris reveals he has plenty of other ideas up his sleeve.The Game Of Thrones musical parody was recorded for NBC's first ever Red Nose Day USA, which has so far raised more than $10million.

A number of British stars took part in the three-hour broadcast, including One Direction, Benedict Cumberbatch, Helen Mirren and Robert Pattinson.During one of his monologues, host Seth Meyer announced his plans to beat the UK version of the fundraising TV marathon. "I don't want the British doing anything in front of the cameras. They are famously terrible actors, so they are all working backstage," he said.

Cameras cut to music mogul Simon Cowell in the director's chair, Orlando Bloom at the sound board, Naomi Campbell operating a camera, Sir Ian McKellen working the teleprompter, Benedict struggling with cue cards and Helen making tea.Oscar-winner Eddie Redmayne, meanwhile, was given the task of wishing people good luck while Twilight star Robert struggled with valet parking, crashing the first car given to him.
