Adele's television appearance comes hot on the heels of her musical comeback with her first single release in three years. Hello not only looks set to top the charts, it has also broken records to become the most viewed music video in 24 hours on Vevo. The single garnered more than 27.7 million views on its first day, smashing Taylor Swift's record of 20.1 million views for Bad Blood.

The nostalgic ballad has already topped the iTunes chart in 102 countries, and the album topped the pre-order chart in 93 countries.

Adele released her new single on Friday and admitted she had been "panicking" about how her new music would be received. However she had no need to worry because it has received endless praise from fans and her peers alike, with a number of celebrities tweeting about their love of the song.

Adele released her new single Hello on Friday

Hello is the lead single from her long-awaited third album 25, which Adele confirmed will be a "make-up" album that focuses on the point in her life where she became a "fully-fledged adult".

While she has achieved incredible success throughout her career, selling 30 million copies of her album 21 and winning an Oscar for her single Skyfall, Adele insists she is still as down-to-earth as ever.

"I do shop at Waitrose these days. That's the biggest change," she laughingly told Nick Grimshaw on Friday. "And I've got a plasma."
