Fresh makeup and matchy-matchy colour palettes ruled the red carpet at the 57TH annual GRAMMY Awards, with bold new hairdos making the biggest splash on Music’s Biggest Night.
A number of starlets debuted fresh haircuts for the 2015 music awards show – like Kim Kardashian, who chopped off her signature flowing tresses for a chic, shoulder-length bob, and Rita Ora, who showed up sporting an edgy cropped pixie cut.
Then there was Beyoncé, who went the opposite route with ultra-long, mermaid-inspired waves, and Katy Perry, who rocked some brightly hued purple tresses on the red carpet before swapping her lilac mane for a chic black ponytail during her performance later in the evening.
However, the most-talked about hair look of the night belonged to Iggy Azalea, who made a bold statement on the red carpet with an on-trend crown braid. Much like Pharell’s Mountie hat from the 2014 Grammys, the unusual updo spawned a series of Internet memes overnight.
The biggest beauty surprises of all had more to do with beauty by omission – Gwen Stefani was hardly recognizable without her signature red lip (though she brought back the scarlet lipstick for her performance with Adam Levine), while Rihanna chose an uncharacteristically subdued, simple look, pulling her hair out of her face into a chic bun and adding a slick of nude lipstick to complement her well-defined eyebrows.
