Lionel Richie is in for a treat at the 58th Annual GRAMMY Awards! As this year's MusiCares Person of the Year, the four-time GRAMMY winner will be honoured with a special performance by some of music's biggest names. Demi Lovato, John Legend, Meghan Trainor and Luke Bryan have been tapped to perform a special medley to celebrate Lionel's success both as a musician and humanitarian.
Monday's performance will be the cherry on top of a wonderful week for the 66-year-old, who will be the man of the hour at a special tribute concert on Feb. 12. During the exclusive event, Lionel's friends and colleagues, including Pharrell Williams, Rihanna, Stevie Wonder, Usher and Ellie Goulding will pay tribute to the "All Night Long" singer through song. Late night host Jimmy Kimmel will serve as the master of ceremonies.
MusiCares is a charitable foundation that provides assistance to musicians in times of financial, medical and personal need. In a statement, the foundation's president Neil Portnow notes that Lionel was selected as this year's recipient because his "musical gifts and philanthropy have touched millions of people around the world." The father of three is thrilled to be recognized, adding, "I'm really proud of this. As far as I'm concerned, this is the highest honour in our music business because it means you have a career. You've survived the journey, if you will."
The GRAMMY® Awards will be broadcast live exclusively on City on Feb. 15.
