Eye Wear
From New York to Milan, eyeliner is undoubtedly one of the hottest trends for the new year. Everything from winged, kittenish eyes (Prada) to graphic cobalt bands (Honor) were seen on the spring catwalks. “This eyeliner doesn’t elongate the eye; it’s just a touch of colour,” says Peter Philips, creative and image director of Christian Dior. The sumptuous satin strip he created for the S/S 2015 show came in a range of confectionery shades like butter yellow, mint green and rose to add an element of texture and dimension to the otherwise simple look. Peter’s pastel strips weren’t the only add-ons; glittering crystals appeared at A Détacher, while Fendi femmes wore blue leather strips across their eyelids.

On the other hand, clumpy, feathery, spidery or doll-like, statement lashes appeared at shows such as Paul & Joe, Moschino and Betsey Johnson. Layers of mascara may achieve this effect, but faux lashes are the easier – not to mention faster – way to fashion full lashes. Many falsies come with adhesive pre-applied, so there’s no need to worry about glue application. To perfect your look, be sure to trim them to best fit your eye shape and use a pair of tweezers for precise application.
Metallic Temporary Tattoos
Inspired by henna techniques and designed to look like jewelry, A-list celebrities like Sarah Jessica Parker, Jessica Alba and Beyoncé have all been spotted wearing the washable ink. Designer Tommy Hilfiger adopted the trend and sent models down the runway wearing a bevy of mixed-metallic designs; while backstage at Rodarte, appliqués were used to give the illusion of facial piercings.

Nail Decals
For nail art devotees on a tight schedule (or for those of us with shaky hand-eye co-ordination), polish strips and nail decals have become a staple in our beauty arsenal. This year, new iterations of press-on polishes offer various textures (snake skin, anyone?) and play with matte-to-glossy finishes. For the true beauty fiends, personalized, one-of-a-kind nail designs are now as easy as picking an Instagram filter.
