Zendaya Coleman is 'honoured' to be CoverGirl's fresh new face

By Jessica Cecchin

The future is looking as clear as ever for 19-year-old Disney star Zendaya Coleman, who took to Instagram Thursday to announce that she is the new face of CoverGirl. The fashionista couldn’t be more thrilled to be added to a lineup of spokeswomen that includes Ellen DeGeneres, Pink, Sofia Vergara and Janelle Monae.

“I am so honoured to join the company of a roster as celebrated and diverse as CoverGirl’s,” Zendaya said in a press release. “I can’t wait to share some of my own beauty tips with fans, and work alongside CoverGirl to continue empowering girls and women to celebrate their individuality."

Zendaya is known for her killer sense of style and bold makeup choices, so it’s no surprise that the popular beauty brand deemed the singer and actress the perfect woman for the job.

“Her ability to distinctly stand out is a key reason that so many girls and women look up to her, not only as a beauty icon, but as a role model as well,” the beauty brand said in a press release.

While Zendaya’s beauty looks are adored by her fans, the actress recently revealed that her hair hasn’t always been as easy and breezy as she’d like. “On the first season of the Disney Channel’s Shake it up, heat-styling destroyed my hair,” she told People Style. “It took over two years to grow it back.”

To protect her locks from heat damage, she tries to avoid styling her hair with heat. “Day-to-day, I wear my hair as natural as possible to minimize damage,” she explained. To define her curls she uses a blow dryer with a diffuser attachment and Chi Styling Cream Gel.

This CoverGirl deal is just the start of a bright 2016 for Zendaya. Her Disney show, K.C Undercover, will air its season finale on January 24 th and she’s also working on her second studio album, which she’s hoping will reflect the type of music she loves and listens to.

We can’t wait to see what’s in store next for Zendaya. Until then, you can catch her first ad campaign at the GRAMMYs on Feb. 15.
