SAG Awards 2016: 3 key beauty trends you have to try now

Bright Lips
Seen on: Priyanka Chopra, Sofia Vergara, Naomi Watts
“One of the biggest beauty statements on the red carpet was without a doubt bold, bright lips. Accented lips add vivacity to any outfit, but it can be tricky to find the perfect shade. Those with fairer skin should opt for medium pink or apricot shades; those with olive-toned skin look amazing in dark-pink, berry lipstick; and those with darker skin tones can pull off plum and merlot shades beautifully. When deciding on a colour to complement your outfit, choose something contrasting like Naomi Watts or enhance the look by matching it to your ensemble like Sofia Vergara and Priyanka Chopra.”

Messy Updos
Seen on: Saoirse Ronan, Kristen Wiig, Maisie Williams
“Updos can sometimes look a bit too contrived, but this season we saw much more relaxed and younger approach to the style. Up-and-coming stars like Saoirse Ronan and Maisie Williams sported beautifully swept-up hair with loose strands, while Kristen Wiig chose a simple-yet-chic ponytail. The secret to the undone hair is in the prep. Make sure to use a styling cream or salt spray before styling to help keep the undone looking hair in place."

Smoky Eyes
Seen on: Alicia Vikander, Eva Longoria, January Jones
"Always a red-carpet favorite, the smoky eye screams glamour. At the SAG Awards, we saw different variations, proving that you don’t need to overload on the black liner. Alicia Vikander’s subdued bronze version was modern and fresh without feeling overdone, and the same goes for January Jones, who added a little shimmer to soften her look. Eva Longoria took a more traditional approach to the smoky eye but kept the rest of her makeup and jewelry minimal, allowing her eyes be the focal point. To perfect this look, use smudgeable eyeliner and blend darker-colored palettes, which will help create different intensities."
