Keira Knightley's career may have brought the actress great success, but it's also wreaked havoc on her hair. With a variety of looks she's tackled for roles through the years, the 31-year-old admitted that her tresses were so damaged they "began to fall out." Her solution? wigs!
"I have dyed my hair virtually every colour imaginable for different films," she told InStyle. "It got so bad that my hair literally began to fall out of my head! So for the past five years I've used wigs, which is the greatest thing that’s ever happened to my hair."
It's not just her haircare routine which she has had to switch up – the British beauty also opened up about her skincare regime, admitting that she struggled with acne for years and initially struggled to find a way to clear up her skin.
Talking about her beauty routine as a teenager she said: "I wore smudgy black eyeliner. And I didn't do anything with my skin until I started getting acne, at which point I did everything possible to get rid of it. I tried a million products and none of them worked."
The Atonement star admitted that as she has gotten older, she has found that making changes to her lifestyle have helped with her skin. "I had bad skin up until I was 25. I later learned that it was more about diet and hormonal changes," she explained.
Keira could be donning a wig once more on set, following the news that she is set to play the Sugar Plum Fairy in the Disney remake of The Nutcracker.
She is set to star live-action film, titled The Nutcracker and the Four Realms, alongside Mackenzie Foy who is on board to play protagonist Clara, while ballerina Misty Copeland and veteran actor Morgan Freeman are also rumoured to be taking part.
Keira already has a long history of working with Disney, having started when she was just a teenager, playing Elizabeth Swann in the Pirates of the Caribbean film series alongside Johnny Depp and Orlando Bloom.
