Ciara had more than just her birthday to celebrate on Oct. 25! The 31-year-old singer and her husband, Russell Wilson, took the opportunity to announce that they're expecting their first baby together via Instagram. The news came courtesy of a stunning black-and-white photo showing Russell gently rubbing her stomach.
"On this special birthday I received an abundance of love from friends and family… and I'm excited to finally share one of the greatest gifts of all that God could give," she wrote, adding a baby emoji. Russell also shared the happy news, writing: "The Greatest Blessing of All. Forever Grateful. #BabyWilsonOnTheWay."
Ciara and NFL star Russell tied the knot in July in a lavish ceremony at Peckforton Castle in Cheshire after one year of dating. The couple chose to remain celibate until their wedding.
The new arrival is the first child for 27-year-old Russell and the second for Ciara, who has a two-year-old son Future Zahir Wilburn with the rapper Future. The newlyweds have made no secret of their desire to start a family together.
"I definitely do, yes," Ciara responded, when asked byE! News last year if she hoped to have more children. Pushed on whether she and Russell had made baby plans, she replied with a laugh: "We discuss a lot of things. A lot of good things!"
Russell, meanwhile, has already had lots of practice with children thanks his to his new role as stepfather to little Future – and he clearly relishes it.
"She has a little man, he's awesome and cute as can be, he's a special kid. I'm a stepdad now," he said in August, while appearing on Maria Shriver's Architects for Change web series.
"When I see this kid, he's two-years-old, he's so sweet and loving, always has a smile on his face. Being a stepfather, it's about loving the child because the child can do something amazing in his life."
