For royal makeup inspiration, fans needn’t look much further than the new Duchess of Sussex. Admired for her impeccable sense of style both before and after becoming an official royal, it’s also tough to miss her flawless beauty looks. And to make matters even better (and more accessible!), it’s now been revealed by her makeup artist Daniel Martin that Meghan has been doing it all on her own while touring Ireland .
For Meghan and Prince Harry’s whirlwind royal tour in the Emerald Isle, the brought along an 11-strong team to keep things in check, including celebrity hairdresser George Northwood. But the 36-year-old has shown that she’s clearly mastered speedy wardrobe changes and nailed her go-to makeup look without any additional help. When asked by fans if he created the look on Tuesday (July 10), Daniel responded: “I didn’t [do the makeup] but she’s so good herself, right?” He also added: “She did her makeup herself for this.”
On both days so far, she’s kept her makeup quite natural, allowing her beloved freckles to shine through with light foundation, a bit of bronzer, a swipe of mascara and her classic pale pink lip. The look calls to mind her stunning wedding day , on which she wore a very similar look to say “I do” to the love of her life, Harry. Daniel, who was the head of Meghan’s royal wedding glam squad in May, recently opened up about the experience to Glamour, sharing: “She’s very much about keeping her skin as real and natural as possible. Right now, in makeup, so much is covered up and masked by contouring, strobing and creating this false dimension to what you naturally have.”
It’s no surprise that the Suits alum is so skilled with her makeup brushes! Having been a working actress for many years – seven of which were spent filming in Toronto – the star surely gained a knack for makeup artistry as she prepared for auditions and appearances. During her acting days, she shunned heavy coverage unless she was on camera and prefers the Laura Mercier Illuminating Primer ($48) instead. “I don’t wear foundation unless I’m filming, so this is what I put on every day after moisturizer to give my skin a dewy glow,” she revealed to Today. Lucky for the duchess’s admirers, many of her most beloved products are easy to find, like one of her favourite lipsticks, Charlotte Tilbury’s Matte Revolution Lipstick in the colour Very Victoria , which she wore for her engagement photos, and the $11 mascara that she introduced to her former makeup artist.
