The sweet reason Prince Harry thanked Meghan Markle’s wedding day makeup artist

Everyone who was watching the royal wedding on May 19 will remember the moment Prince Harry first laid eyes on his bride, Meghan Markle. Lifting her veil, the prince whispered romantically, “You look amazing.” And she did, but it wasn’t because of the layers of makeup – just as the Duchess of Sussex likes it, her natural beauty shined through with help from makeup artist Daniel Martin. In a new interview, he revealed that Harry didn’t hold back in thanking him for making Meghan look like herself!

Speaking to InStyle, Daniel reminisced about the historic day, saying, “After the ceremony, Harry kept saying thank you. He was thanking me for making her look like herself.” It was clear that her now-husband Harry was overwhelmed by how beautiful his wife looked in her GivenchybyClare Waight Kellargown and Queen Mary’s Filigree tiara – he couldn’t stop looking over at her and smiling throughout the moving ceremony.

On top of ensuring that the duchess looked as natural as can be, it was also important to look her best – and her best means showing off her freckles! “The last thing you want [is] to look at your wedding pictures and go, ‘Remember when highlighting was the rage?’ At the end of the day, you want to look like your best self.”

While Daniel was the one who orchestrated her glowy look, Meghan certainly played a role in the outcome as well. Speaking to ELLE.com, Daniel revealed that “her makeup look was very collaborative. She’s extremely decisive.” Of course, when it came to her ensemble, the celebrity makeup artist wanted to let her designer dress shine. “If Meghan had much more makeup on, her face would have been the focus and not the gracefulness of her dress,” he explained. “It would have been distracting, and that’s what you don’t want when the dress is the main attraction.”
