Scarlett Johansson has opened up about her experiences of being a mother, admitting that she still has a lot to learn about parenting. The 30-year-old, who welcomed her daughter Rose with husband Romain Dauriac in September, said she hates it when celebrities make "grandiose" statements about parenthood.

"I'm such a newbie at this. I always really hate it when actors or people in the spotlight make giant grandiose statements about parenthood because it's so, so personal," she told the Australian Daily Telegraph. "I don't profess to know anything more about parenting than anybody else."

The Avengers: Age of Ultron star also discussed how her priorities have shifted since the birth of her daughter.

Scarlett Johansson has admitted she is still a newbie at parenting

"Before, I just made the choices that were affecting me, but now I'm responsible for somebody else. Eventually, I will have to work less, and it might even make me more discerning."

She continued: "I think having any kind of huge life changing event happen to you, such as having children… is very, very inspiring. I think it will hopefully enrich my work, as well as my understanding of myself."

The new mum continued to credit her own mother, Melanie Sloan, for giving her advice which has helped her growing up.

"I think my mom, really more than anything, shaped me in many ways. She was very, very encouraging of our separate interests growing up," Scarlett said. "She just made us feel that you could do whatever you wanted to do, as long as you really wanted to do it, and that's why I got into acting."

Scarlett has previously described the bond she shares with her daughter as "magical".

Speaking out just three months after her arrival, Scarlett told People: "It's wonderful. It's very, very magical – and exhausting. The love is just unbelievable. It's very overwhelming."
