Louis Tomlinson confirms birth of baby boy

Louis Tomlinson has confirmed the birth of his son. Taking to his Twitter account the 24-year-old told his 21.3million followers that he and Briana Jungwirth welcomed their first child yesterday. "I’m pleased to say my baby son was born yesterday :) He is healthy and pretty amazing, I’m very happy," he wrote at lunch time on Saturday, which is 4am in California, where the little boy was born.

The That’s What Makes You Beautiful singer is clearly overjoyed to have become a father for the first time as he posted several smiley faces on his Twitter page along with the lyrics "Daddy daddy cool," from the Boney M song.Fellow One Direction singer Harry Styles appeared to be congratulating his bandmate when he wrote on Twitter: "Flowers all round". Liam Payne and Niall Horan have yet to publicly congratulate their friend on his new arrival.

Despite not being in a relationship Louis and Briana remain close friends

Just hours after it was reported that Briana had gven birth, the pop superstar was seen shopping in the Beverly Hills area of Los Angeles. During his trip Louis appeared to be wearing a plastic hospital band on his his left wrist.According to reports by TMZ, the singer was beside his ex-girlfriend as she gave birth on Thursday evening. Determined not to miss any of his son’s precious first moments, Louis has relocated to California, so that he can co-parent the child with Briana, a Los Angeles-based stylist.A source close to the star told the Daily Mail that the former X Factor contestant is very excited to be a hands-on-dad, and is going to fully support his ex with raising their child. "Although they’re not romantically involved, Louis thinks Briana is a great woman and will be a fabulous mother. Louis has been helping Briana financially and is prepared to get stuck in with all the tasks that caring for a baby demands."
