She caught everyone's attention when she arrived on the arm of her Nickelback fiance Chad Kroeger, wearing a Statue of Liberty-esq black leather headpiece with metal spikes, and Avril Lavigne went on to make the night her own, by winning best international video by a Canadian artist for "Here’s To Never Growing Up" and stirring the audience up with a performance of that same single. The annual MuchMusic Video Awards in Toronto on June 16 was co-hosted by South Korean pop phenomenon Psy who also took to the stage several times to showcase his lastest song as well as a tongue-in-cheek take on Beyoncé's Single Ladies (put a ring on it).
Justin Bieber picked up the favorite artist trophy but was not in attendance to pick up the gong.
Taylor Swift took home the award for Fave International Artist or Group and was effusive in her acceptance speech; "this is my very first MMVA, so I am so excited. I want to thank MuchMusic for playing music videos and giving us a reason to put a visual element to our music. To the fans! I've had an amazing weekend with you, with two sold-out shows," she added. She has various Canadian dates scheduled to follow up her MuchMusic win, beginning June 22 in Winnipeg, Manitoba.
