Chad Kroeger on Avril Lavigne: ‘Happy wife, happy life!’

They may be newlyweds, but Nickelback frontman Chad Kroeger says he knows what it takes to guarantee his marriage to fellow Canadian singer Avril Lavigne is successful.

"The saying is true," he tells ET Canada. "Happy wife, happy life. I think any man learns that quick -- really quick."

Avril laughs and responds, "You're a good man!"

The couple speaks out about married life and their blissful romance in the new interview, dishing on everything from their duet to the domestic details of their relationship — including Avril’s impressive skills in the kitchen.

"I could burn water" Chad admits. "She's an amazing cook."

"I just go with the flow and kind of see what's in the fridge and then start," Avril says.

"Yeah, but you never miss," Chad insists. "I've never tasted one thing that you've put on the table where I was like, 'I wish I had a dog.' That's never happened."

The newlyweds recently released a new song together called "Let Me Go" off Avril's new album out Nov. 5. Chad too, is recording new music with Nickelback, but despite their busy schedules, the rock duo say they prioritize making time for one another — Chad even flew out from his tour in Brazil on Sept. 29 to be with his wife on her birthday.

One thing the couple isn't making time for (at the moment)? Babies.

"I have a tour coming up," Avril says. "And the songs on the album and this whole project... that's my baby, my sort of priority now."

Looking at Chad she added, "You are my priority."
