Lea Michele has released her powerful first music video for “Cannonball,” her first single off her debut album.
In the emotional clip, the Glee star belts out heartbreaking song lyrics while wearing a black dress in a dark, abandoned house.
"I was scared to death I was losing my mind” she sings. “Break down, I couldn't close my eyes I was pacing all night.”
By the end of the video, however, the light pours in and the lyrics take a hopeful turn: "I got this new beginning and I will fly, I'll fly like a cannonball."
Written by Sia and Benny Blasco, the 27-year-old admitted that the song helped her get over the loss of her late love, Cory Monteith.
"The minute I heard the song, I had a physical reaction to it. For me, it's been my strength," she said.
"I listen to it every day. I know it was brought into my life for a reason. It's really been so helpful for me and I hope it's the same for other people as it's been for me."
The gracious songstress also made sure to thank her fans after the video’s premiere.
"So thankful to everyone who helped me make my #CannonballMusicVideo and to all of you for watching," she tweeted.
The release date for Lea’s first album, Louder is Feb. 28, three days after Glee returns for a fifth season on Feb. 25.
