In Elle magazine's Women in Music issue, Miley Cyrus graces the cover wearing a sequined, covered-up ensemble by Marc Jacobs.
But within its pages, the polarizing pop star bares all, including her feelings about cutting ties with Disney and her ex-fiancé, Liam Hemsworth.

"You know, I’m really thankful that I started on Disney," she says. "I got the most intense training. There are times where I wish I could have just started as a new artist, but the world has kind of allowed me to do that. I feel really lucky — a lot of kid stars get all crazy or stuck in what they were, so they can’t actually become what they’re meant to be."
Speaking with a remarkable sense of clarity, the 21-year-old singer says she’s now “fine” on her own and drew comparisons between her former life as Hannah Montana and her fear of being unaided when she and Liam called it quits last summer.
"When I went through a really intense breakup — you know, I was engaged — and when I was with him or when I was on Disney, the thing that gave me the most anxiety was not knowing what to do with myself when Disney wasn’t there to carry me anymore or if I didn’t have him," the star explained. "And now I’m free of both of those things, and I’m fine."
She adds: "Like, I lay in bed at night by myself and I'm totally okay, and that's so much stronger than the person three years ago, who would have thought they would die if they didn't have a boyfriend."
Miley is currently on her whirlwind Bangerz tour, having recently made a stop in Toronto. The songstress was forced to cancel Monday's concert after coming down with the flu, but her team says she is feeling better and will take the stage in Raleigh, North Carolina tonight.
