While we’d bet celebrities get no shortage of invitations to their fans’ milestone events, we don’t often expect them to actually show up.
Taylor Swift shocked super-fan and bride-to-be Gena Gabrielle in Ohio last weekend by attending her shower, posing for Instagram photos and bringing an assortment of kitchen-friendly gifts.
Gena tweeted, “The driver told my dad she planned the trip at 1am & said “I need to be there and I need to be on time” so blessed to have her in my life.”
Rumours flourished on Twitter about whether the 24-year-old singer was paid to attend, but fans quickly came to the star’s defense, sharing tweets like: “Sorry to burst your bubble of lies, but the only payment @taylorswift13 received for going to @GenaGabrielle’s bridal shower was love.”
Taylor reportedly said that she wanted to make the young Swifty’s shower because her schedule did not permit her to be there on the big day. The two had previously met at a number of meet-and-greets, and Gena invited the ‘Love Story’ chanteuse personally.
In addition to recently parting ways with her longtime publicist, Paula Erickson, the pop-country star guest-starred on SNL last weekend, joining Seth Rogen, Zooey Deschanel and James Franco on stage during the opening monologue.
