The New York establishment confirmed that the person responsible for leaking the much-talked about footage had been terminated for “breaching the security policies of the hotel and recording the confidential CCTV video,” according to a statement.
It has been reported that the tape was sold for $250,000 after “being shopped for five days to the highest bidder.”
TMZ posted the three-minute video on Monday. It shows Solange attacking Jay Z inside a Standard Hotel lift in the presence of sister Beyoncé Knowles.
Immediately after the clip was first aired, the hotel said it was “shocked and disappointed” by the security breach.
“We are shocked and disappointed that there was a clear breach of our security system and the confidentiality that we count on providing our guests,” a statement read.
“We are investigating with the utmost urgency the circumstances surrounding the situation and, as is our customary practice, will discipline and prosecute the individuals involved to the fullest capacity.”
So far, none of the stars involved have commented on the incident – and since there was no audio on the clip, the world has been left to speculate about what caused Solange to argue with her brother-in-law.
“Jay said something inappropriate to Beyoncé and Solange, and she snapped,” a source told People. “When they got in the elevator, it escalated quickly the way family tensions can. It got exceptionally heated the way family moments can.”
