Juno Awards 2015: Avril Lavigne, Nickelback and Kiesza among nominees
Canadian power-couple Avril Lavigne and Chad Kroeger have reason to celebrate after the complete list of 2015 Juno Awards nominees were announced in Toronto on Tuesday (Jan. 27).
The 30-year-old “Hello Kitty” singer will vie for Best Pop Album against Down With Webster, Lights, MAGIC!, and Nikki Yanofsky, while her husband’s band, Nickelback, has been recognized in three major categories – Group of the Year, Album of the Year and Juno Fan Choice.

Avril was nominated for Juno Fan Choice in 2014, but lost out to 20-year-old pop star Justin Bieber, who won for the fourth consecutive year in a row. (He has not been nominated in any categories this year.)
Although Avril and Chad are two of the country's most recognizable stars, the clear leader of this year's pack of nominees is pop-reggae group MAGIC!, who garnered five nominations for Breakthrough Group of the Year, Pop Album of the Year, Single of the Year, Juno Fan Choice and Songwriter of the Year – despite never having been nominated before.

The Toronto band, who released their debut single, “Rude” in 2014, took to Twitter to share their excitement, writing, “We are so happy to be nominated for 5 Juno Awards!!! Amazing :))) Thank you to @TheJunoAwards and Canada! We love you.”
Not far behind is dance sensation Kiesza with four nominations, including Single of the Year for “Hideaway," an electro-pop international hit that became the song of the summer.
Meanwhile, Bryan Adams, deadmau5, Leonard Cohen, Sarah McLachlan and The Weeknd are vying for Artist of the Year.

While there’s been no word yet on whether Avril and Chad will attend the awards ceremony together, fans are eagerly awaiting the pair’s return to the spotlight. The couple haven’t been seen in public together since late last year, leading many to speculate that they were set to divorce after just one year of matrimony – though Chad seemed to deny the reports via a cryptic tweet in September. Meanwhile, Avril has been teasing new music on Twitter this past month after revealing that she had been suffering from a mysterious illness.
The Juno Awards will take place during a star-studded gala on March 15 in Hamilton, with performances by Arkells, Kiesza, MAGIC! and Shawn Mendes, with more to be announced in the upcoming weeks.Veteran rock band Rush will be honoured with the Allan Waters Humanitarian Award at a special gala ahead of the Junos broadcast.
