For Canadians dreaming of warmer weather, summer festival season can’t come soon enough. Enter Canadian Music Week (CMW), which has released this year's star-studded lineup for the much-anticipated springtime event – including headliners like Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds, Lights, Kiesza, MAGIC! and Billy Talent.
Other notable acts taking the stage this year are music legend John Mellencamp, Scottish alt-rock band The Jesus and Mary Chain, rock group Faith No More and former Stone Temple Pilots frontman Scott Weiland.
The festival, which is in its 33nd year, runs from May 1 to 10 (up from seven days last year) all over downtown Toronto and will feature over 1,000 artists performing at more than 60 venues around the city – including the Opera House, Sneaky Dees, the Sony Centre for the Performing Arts, Cadillac Lounge and the Drake Hotel’s Underground.
Along with exclusive concerts, CMW will be conducting interviews with some of Canada’s top talent and will feature comedy shows between performances. The event's full schedule will be revealed in April.
For the first time ever last year, the weeklong festival was held in the spring (it had previously been held in March). The new, warmer dates have helped make the Canadian festival more popular than ever.
Wristbands and tickets are currently on sale at CMW.net for an early-bird rate until Feb. 4.
