Avril Lavigne is putting those pesky divorce rumours to rest. The Canadian singer has been making good on her promise to start using Instagram more often, sharing several photos from a sun-filled holiday in Miami – including one rare and loved-up snap of her with her husband, Chad Kroeger, prompting delight from "Chavril" fans.
It’s been more than six months since husband and wife were pictured jointly, fuelling speculation over the state of their marriage, but the pop star and her rocker beau appear to be going stronger than ever.
The twosome can be seen sticking their tongues out for the camera in the super-cute selfie, which Avril posted to Instagram on Monday (May 11). The photo comes after a series of holiday snaps that the songstress shared with her 1.4 million followers over the past few days.
Fans haven’t seen much of the Napanee, Ont. native since late last year, as a result of a “mysterious illness” that forced the star out of the limelight. In April, the songstress finally revealed the reason behind her absence – she had been suffering from a debilitating case of Lyme disease.
After his wife came out with her story, Chad, 40, was able to express his relief. “I’m like, “OK the wife has come out and said this and now I don’t have to keep hiding,” he said during a radio interview last month. “With everyone going, ‘What’s wrong with your wife?’ and me just going, ‘Ah, she’s going to be fine.’
Thankfully, it seems Avril is feeling much better now, as she enjoys a well-deserved holiday with her closest friends and family. Last week, she shared pictures of her and brother Matt Lavigne frolicking in the ocean, and the pretty blond continued to post an array of selfies from South Beach over the weekend, including the photo with Chad.
In one of her earlier snaps, the 30-year-old singer wears sunglasses, a straw hat and a stylish beach cover-up as she gives her best sexy pout for the camera; in another, she sports a black fedora with Ray-Ban sunglasses and flashes a dazzling smile.
With her long blond hair in beachy waves, she looks positively ethereal in a third photo that was posted over the weekend.
The trip comes as wonderful news for fans, who have been praying for Avril’s swift recovery.
“I believe that I will come out of this healthier and stronger than I was before,” she said. “I’ve gained a lot of perspective on my life. I’ve never had so much downtime, so it’s been good in that sense and I’m really just choosing to look at the positives.”
Rumour has it that the Napanee, Ont. native is currently working on her sixth album after she took to Twitter to celebrate recording a new song in the studio. She has yet to release any further details about new music, though she did reveal that she was looking forward to working on a Christmas record one day.
