Celine Dion is warming up her vocal cords for a good cause before returning to her residency this summer. The gorgeous 47-year-old took to the stage in Las Vegas on Sunday for Keep Memory Alive’s Power of Love Gala, an event that raises research funds for the Cleveland Clinic’s Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health. The 19th edition of the event was held at the MGM Grand Garden Arena.
For her performance, the “My Heart Will Go On” singer donned a fitted, floor-length black gown with a tight bodice that highlighted her slender waist and a plunging neckline that drew eyes to her décolletage. To complement the look, Celine kept her makeup simple and her long hair in loose waves.
Italian tenor Andrea Bocelli joined the Quebecois chanteuse on stage. The 56-year-old was one of the evening’s honourees, alongside wife Veronica, for the work they do with the Andrea Bocelli Foundation to fight poverty and illiteracy. Robin Thicke also performed at the fundraising event.
After a long hiatus from performing, Celine Dion returned to the stage as a presenter at the 2015 Billboard music Awards on May 17. This followed a tearful interview with Good Morning America in March, during which the Most Beautiful Canadian spoke about caring for husband René Angélil, 73, who is battling another bout of throat cancer. But the strong mother to three sons – René Charles, 14, and twins Eddy and Nelson, 4 – has announced her plans to return to her Las Vegas residency.
“It was René’s wish that I come back,” she said in a statement. “While my family will always be my priority, my fans are just as important to me. I look forward to performing again for all of you starting August 27th, and more importantly having René there with me.”
