Demi Lovato was "Cool for the Summer" and now she is one of fall’s hottest singers thanks to the release of her fifth studio album, Confident (Oct. 16). The 23-year-old dropped by the City studios in downtown Toronto for an intimate Q&A in front of some of her biggest and most inspired fans.
“It’s incredible for people to say I’m an inspiration,” said the down-to-earth star, who has been incredibly open about her struggles with mental health and substance abuse.
The former Disney star looked visibly moved as she listened to some of her young admirers reveal how she helped them overcome various hurdles in their own lives.“I was only hoping for the music side of things but now I get to touch people’s lives and it’s incredible,” she revealed to Entertainment City’s Adam Wylde.
Here, the singer opens up about her new music, the Robert Rodriguez-directed music video for her album’s title track, her longtime boyfriend Wilmer Valderrama and the ways she breathes confidence into her life. “I find confidence by doing things I know are going to help me,” she explains, adding, “When I go into the gym and I kick ass and I push through those moments where I want to give up. That makes me feel stronger.”
