Royal Wood is set to release his latest album, Ghost Light, in April, but fans won’t have to wait that long to hear fresh material from the Canadian singer. The handsome musician has shared an exclusive first listen of his new single, “Long Way Out,” with Hello!.
"Long Way Out" was a song written oddly enough on my days off before we started recording the album," Royal tells Hello!. "It's a song that truthfully I thought was going to be a B-Side has taken on a life of its own and is now the first single. Funny how the Universe works."
The multi-instrumentalist, who plays the guitar, drums, clarinet and more, sings about perseverance on the inspiring track, even though, as he admits, it’s easier to “lock the doors and cover my ears.” Born and raised in Peterborough, Ont., Royal has built a storied career in Canadian music, having been nominated for two Junos and received multiple accolades as a singer-songwriter. His music has been featured on hit TV shows like Grey’s Anatomy and Private Practice and his 2014 album The Burning Bright debuted on the Canadian Top 30 chart.
Royal Wood's new album Ghost Light will be released in April.
In addition to his new album, Royal will be hitting the road come February for a Canadian tour that will see the singer performing in cities from coast to coast. When he’s not busy working on his music, Royal is perfecting his skills as a sommelier. Earlier this year he united his passions when he released a 12-song compilation in conjunction with the launch of a new wine from Vanguard Wines.
