When it came time for Drake to recruit the perfect photographer to capture the essence of his new album Views From the Six he turned to trusted collaborator Caitlin Cronenberg. The acclaimed shutterbug, and daughter of legendary director David Cronenberg, has said how honoured she is to have been given the chance to photograph the impressive cover art. The stunning image shows the Toronto-born rapper perched on the top of the city's CN Tower.
"So honoured to have shot Drake's new album cover!" wrote Caitlin on Instagram, adding, "Proud to be from Toronto today and every day." The 31-year-old mom-of-one has photographed some of the world's biggest stars, including Julianne Moore, Eddie Redmayne and Colin Firth.
Caitlin and Drake worked together back in 2015 on an artistic spread in November's W Magazine. Earlier this month, the duo were spotted shooting pictures on a balcony in downtown Toronto, sparking speculation that they were collaborating again on a very special project. The cover art was released just a week before the album's Apr. 29 release date.
It's been a busy 24 hours for the "Hotling Bling" singer, who after releasing his album cover also announced dates for his summer tour. The Summer Sixteen tour, which kicks off on July 20 in Austin, will see Drake performing to sold-out crowds across North America, including three Canadian dates.
Before wrapping up the tour in Vancouver on Sept. 17, the rapper will merge his show with his 7th annual OVO Fest, a two-day music festival that takes over the city of Toronto every summer. In addition to seeing Drake and co-headliner Future, fans will be treated to performances by Snoop Dogg, Wiz Khalifa and a long list of surprise acts.
