Listen to this: New singles from Kaiser Chiefs and TUNS
By Nicholas Jennings
Indie rock is alive and well and continues to provide some of the most refreshing sounds on this summer’s soundtrack. Two of the best songs this week come from a pair of bands — one from England the other from Canada — that know their way around melodic hooks and catchy choruses.
Kaiser Chiefs: “Hole in my Soul”
England’s indie rockers burst on to the scene in 2005 with
their smash hit “I Predict a Riot.” The latest from the Leeds lads is a soaring
love anthem, taken from their forthcoming album
Stay Together.
The five-piece band, led by frontman Ricky Wilson, took to Twitter to tell fans of the accompanying video for the song, which features the group taking a spin around a British race track.

TUNS: “Back Among Friends”
TUNS is Canada’s newest indie supergroup, featuring Sloan’s
Chris Murphy, Super Friendz’ Matt Murphy (no relation) and the Inbreds’ Mike
O’Neill. This infectious single from their self-titled debut album is a joyous
celebration of friendship.
Chris, Matt and Mike really are friends who all have past and present connections with Halifax. A recently posted photo on their Instagram account shows the buddies’ bond.
