Celine Dion has delighted fans by releasing the first single off her upcoming English album. Titled "Recovering," the emotional ballad is a touching tribute to her late husband René Angélil. The track was co-written by chart-topper Pink.
Speaking with EW, Pink opened up about working with the Canadian icon: “She is like a magic light bulb, walking around emanating light into the world,” said the GRAMMY winner, who penned the track alongside Allen Shamblin and Tom Douglas. “When I wrote this song, there was such a simple need to it. I know everyone wants to hear Celine wail, I wanted to hear Celine’s soul. She is just simply amazing, and getting to write a song for her is one of the biggest honours of my life.”
The pain from losing her longtime love is evident in every lyric. "I am recovering. The faith of a child, by a part of my heart, I was reckless and wild, I am recovering. The hope that I lost, the part of my soul, that paid the cost," sings the mother of three.
Since René's passing in January, Celine has been a beacon of strength as she returned to her residency in Las Vegas before taking her show to Europe and Canada. Late last month, the 48-year-old released her French album Encore un soir, which debuted at number one on the Billboard Canadian Album chart.
