Pink to perform the National Anthem at the Super Bowl LII
By: Meaghan Wray
Pink will be getting the Super Bowl party started on Feb. 4 by belting out the National Anthem. The powerful singer joins Justin Timberlake on the roster of performers set to take the stage at U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis.
The mother of two will hit the pregame stage to kick off the festivities alongside Alexandria Wailes, who will provide accompanying sign language for the National Anthem and “America The Beautiful.” This marks 38-year-old Pink’s first Super Bowl performance, and in singing the anthem she joins the ranks of past heavyweights like Whitney Houston, Diana Ross, Cher and Mariah Carey. Pink even gave a nod to her idol Whitney with an Instagram post captioned “The greatest love of alllllllllllllll”.
This is sure to be an exciting musical year for the “Family Portrait” singer! Not only is she starting it off with a bang at the Super Bowl, but she’s also slated to perform at Grammy Awards alongside Lady Gaga, Childish Gambino (a.k.a. Donald Glover) and country group Little Big Town. Fans of her latest studio album “Beautiful Trauma” should be looking forward to hearing some of her latest hits on music’s biggest night. Pink’s first single in five years, “What About Us,” is up for a Grammy for best pop solo performance.
And her biggest fan, seven-year-old daughter Willow, will surely be on the sidelines singing along. Pink’s mini-me stole the show at the 2017 VMAs by belting out mom’s hit “What About Us” as Pink gave an unforgettable performance. Maybe Willow and her one-year-old brother Jameson will even hit the road this year, as the singer kicks off her world tour in early March in Phoenix, Arizona, before stopping in Toronto on Mar. 20 and 21.
