Justin Timberlake’s ‘Man of the Woods’ listening party menu included grasshoppers

Justin Timberlake is coming back to the music scene a literal man of the woods, and he’s making sure everybody knows it. At his album listening party in the Big Apple on Tuesday (Jan. 16), Justin ensured that every detail in the venue was outfitted for the great outdoors – right down to the creepy crawly hors d’oeuvres!

As he prepares to release his fourth studio album, Man of the Woods, on Feb. 2, Justin has been revamping his image and promising a return to his southern Tennessee roots. The lucky ones who snagged an invite to his New York listening party got to meet the man behind the music – and the love of his life, Jessica Biel – while snacking on nibbles that included ants and grasshoppers. Brian Hernandez, one of the attendees, took to Twitter to share the exclusive menu.

The father of one hung up his “Suit and Tie” for the outdoorsy affair, outfitting the venue with bushes and trees to make his guests feel at one with nature while they listened to his new record in its entirety. Though the songs promise to be a bit of a diversion from recent R&B hits, Justin promised that they won’t be unrecognizably different.

“I’m not going to go all Ray LaMontagne,” he shared with the crowd, referring to a popular folk singer. On a sneak preview, behind-the-scenes look at his new tunes, the star shared, “I think the album has a wide range of sonics to it. But I guess I would describe it as ‘modern Americana’ with 808s.”

Justin has long infused his music with a southern twist, which he promised is still very present on his new release, calling the collection a beautiful mixture of modern sounds and the sounds of his heritage. Working alongside the iconic producer and musician Pharrell Williams, Man of the Woods is bound to be groundbreaking for this former boyband idol.
