Who runs the world? Beyoncé and Jay-Z! The musical power couple has just announced that they’ll be hitting the road together once again, starting June 6, for their On the Run II tour – a sequel to their double-headlining debut in 2014, with general pre-sale beginning March 23.
Bey and Jay will touch down in England first, followed by 15 European cities leading up to a 21-day North American leg beginning July 15 in Cleveland. Much to the dismay of their Toronto fans, the only Canadian tour date currently slated is a final stop in Vancouver on Oct. 2 – but Beyoncé has been known to shock us all and change things up last minute! During last year’s Formation tour, the mother of three added seven tour dates to the roster.
The exciting news was accidentally released last week on Beyoncé’s Facebook and Ticketmaster pages. The posts were quickly deleted, but didn’t go unnoticed by her diehard fans and Complex, who took a screenshot of her social media page. This is one tour with an incredible amount of hype given that it’s the first since Jay-Z, 48, released his hugely successful album 4:44, on which he raps about the controversy surrounding his marriage and affair.
Speculation around who will join them on tour is mounting, given the fact that Kendrick Lamar hit the stage during Beyoncé’s final gig of her Lemonade tour last year and DJ Khaled recently released a song featuring the couple titled “Top Off.”
Easily one of the music industry’s most celebrated couples – boasting 338 GRAMMY Awards between the two of them, among American Music Awards, BET Awards and Billboard Music Awards – fans have been dying to see them co-headline again for the past four years. Now that the duo has three children together, perhaps their loyal followers will catch a glimpse of six-year-old Blue Ivy or Rumi and Sir – who turn one in June – in the crowd or on video screens. Fingers crossed!
