Celine Dion is back and ready for business! After recovering from surgery, the Canadian star returned to her Las Vegas residency on Tuesday (May 22) and debuted her new song, “Ashes,” which is featured in the blockbuster hit Deadpool 2, starring her hilarious fellow Canuck Ryan Reynolds.
Early last month, ear surgery forced the 50-year-old to cancel a slew of tour dates following previous cancellations due to illness. Clearly distraught by disappointing her fans, the star came back with a bang. The mother of three shared a video of the epic performance – the first time she performed her latest song live – on her Instagram, writing: “Céline performed 'Ashes', from the @deadpoolmovie, live for the first time last night on her return on stage at @thecolosseumatcaesarspalace!”

For those who are fans of Celine and Ryan, the combination of the two is almost too good to be true. They basically broke the internet when the charismatic pair joined forces for the theme song’s music video, which was released on May 3 and boasts a whopping 24 million views. Director David Leitch said that it goes beyond the fact that Celine’s son is a fan of Ryan’s sassy superhero, Deadpool.
“She has a son who’s a fan,” the director told Entertainment Weekly. “But I think she was actually taken aback by the song as well. She’s a really sort of fun personality and a really beautiful person, and I think she understood what we were trying to do.” In the video, Ryan as Deadpool yells at Celine from the audience, joking, “Celine! That was amazing! Well, it’s too good. This is Deadpool 2, not Titanic. You’re at, like, an 11, we need to get you down to a 5.” In typical Celine fashion, she responded without hesitation. “Listen. This thing only goes to 11,” she retorted. “So beat it, Spiderman!”
Naturally, the musical powerhouse sang her heart out, giving fans a sneak peek of what her Asia-Pacific tour is going to sound like! Pitch perfect, of course. Once her Colosseum residency wraps up on June 9, the chanteuse will be off to Japan and traveling all the way Down Under, finishing off with a New Zealand show on Aug. 14.
