The time has come for Celine Dion to pack up her bags and move on from her eight-year residency at Las Vegas's Caesars Palace, a whopping 15 years after her Sin City debut! The Canadian chanteuse, who has spent nearly two decades bringing hit after hit to life for fans visiting the famous city, is closing this chapter come June 8, 2019, according to a recent press release.
"I definitely have mixed emotions about this final run. Las Vegas has become my home and performing at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace has been a big part of my life for the past two decades. It's been an amazing experience and I'm so grateful to all the fans who have come to see us throughout the years," Celine said in a statement. "Every show we do at The Colosseum throughout this fall, and right up until the final one, will feel very special."
The 50-year-old singer celebrated 1000 shows in Las Vegas back in 2016, and can now boast 1,089 shows performed to 4.5 million fans at The Colosseum alone. Her two residencies, A New Day... and Celine, have made the Canadian superstar the most popular musician to have a residency in Las Vegas since the legendary Elvis Presley.
And many, including John Meglen, co-CEO of Concerts West and AEG Presents, credit the award-winning star with changing the Las Vegas entertainment scene forever: "What an extraordinary part of our lives these shows have been. Celine took such a leap of faith, made such a big bet on Las Vegas when she decided to perform A New Day... all those years ago. And look what she's done ... she has changed the landscape of entertainment in Las Vegas."
He continued: "What she started, as a crazy idea that didn't make sense to a lot of people, has now become the norm. Now everyone wants to perform a residency in Las Vegas! All of us have Celine to thank for really making Las Vegas the entertainment capital of the world." Stars like Gwen Stefani (who received flowers from Celine) and Lady Gaga (who loves singing Celine at Karaoke) have since taken to Las Vegas with residencies of their own, following the lead of Canada's Queen of Pop.
Loyal fans of Queen Celine will be able to catch one of her final performances from Feb. 26 to Mar. 16 and May 14 to June 8. Tickets for the shows will go on sale on Friday (Sept. 28) at 1 p.m. EST.
