The most expensive jewelry ever worn to the Oscars

ELIZABETH TAYLOR:
The late star wore this green suite to the 39th Academy Awards in 1967 where she won her second Best Actress Oscar for ‘Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf?’ Of the purchase made by Richard Burton, she had this to say: "Richard was so romantic that he'd use any excuse to give me a piece of jewelry… Over the years I've come to think of these as my 'It's Tuesday, I love you' jewelry."

GLORIA STEWART:
It seems fair that the person who narrated ‘Titanic’ got to wear the 15-carat blue diamond necklace that caused so much commotion in the film. It was said to be worth $20 million when she wore it in 1998.

KEIRA KNIGHTLEY:
One of the most exotic creations worn on the Oscars’ red carpet was this vintage Bulgari necklace, circa the 1960s. Not only did it pair well with the Best Actress nominee’s mauve Vera Wang gown, it also made her brown eyes pop.

JENNIFER LOPEZ:
This is one of the best ensembles the 45-year-old actress has ever worn. It’s elegant and simple without being too dainty. The Lorrain Schwartz earrings Jennifer wore only added to the outfit’s sparkle. Grey and champagne in hue, the items were valued at more than $325,000 in 2007.

NICOLE KIDMAN:
Sometimes the most ornate necklaces are indeed the most expensive. Case in point: this custom-designed necklace by L’Wren Scott, which the Australian actress wore to the 2008 Oscars. The necklace was studded with 7,645 rough diamonds and weighed 1,400 carats. It’s reportedly worth $7 million today.

ANGELINA JOLIE:
These are the earrings that spawned a million knockoffs back in 2009. Donned by Mrs. Pitt, the Lorrain Schwartz 115-carat Colombian emerald-drop earrings are worth a reported $2.5 million. The matching ring she wore is valued at $1 million.

KATE WINSLET:
When you’re set to win an Academy Award for Best Actress, you try to look your best. For the 39-year-old British star, this meant pairing her silver Saint Laurent gown with a $2.5 million yellow diamond necklace from Tiffany & Co. as well as matching canary diamond earrings (valued at $975,000).

ANNE HATHAWAY:
Being an Oscars host isn’t always easy, but the 32-year-old actress looked calm and collected back in 2011, in large part because she oozed elegance on the red carpet. The major highlight of her look was a $10 million Tiffany & Co. Lucida Star diamond necklace that weighed around 94 carats. She also wore a Tiffany ring worth $285,000.

AMY ADAMS:
Sometimes going simple is the best way to get attention on the red carpet. We learned that lesson from 40-year-old Amy Adams in 2011. Her diamond and emerald bracelet featured 30.75-carats of carved emeralds and 575 diamonds; it’s worth $1.025 million. Two-carat stud earrings valued at $35,0000 and a slinky diamond-and-emerald necklace (worth $290,000) capped off her look.
