James Corden - Biography

Actor, writer and producer
Born: June 17, 1978
Famous for: Keeping the nation entertained as beer-swigging, West Ham-loving Smithy in Gavin & Stacy

Horoscope : Capricorn

After doing a drama course it took eight years of trying before Buckinghamshire-born James Corden got his first job - a late Nineties stint in the West End musical Martin Guerre. The experience was positive though, he says, as it "taught me about rejection from a really early age". Afterwards TV work started rolling in and he signed up for parts in Teachers, Fat Friends and Hollyoaks. He also landed a movie role in Mike Leigh's All Or Nothing. It was in 2008 when James' star really started to rise, though, when Gavin & Stacy, the Wales-set BBC comedy he co-wrote and starred in with Mat Horne, gained a cult following. It brought him a BAFTA, too. Since then his profile has continued to rise with a co-host slot at the Brit Awards with Kylie Minogue and his big screen horror spoof Lesbian Vampire Killers.
