When cinemagoers saw Rebecca Hall's Golden Globe-nominated turn as a love-torn US tourist in Woody Allen's Spain-set romantic drama Vicky Christina Barcelona, many believed her to be as American as her co-star Scarlett Johansson. In fact, the brunette beauty hails from London, where she was born to theatre director dad Peter Hall and opera singer Maria Ewing. Rebecca's interest in acting was sparked as a 12-year-old when her father cast her in a TV adaptation of novel The Camomile Lawn. While reading English Literature at Cambridge she appeared in several plays and set up her own theatre company. After honing her talents in theatre, she made her big screen debut in student drama Starter For Ten. She went on to win roles in The Prestige with Michael Caine and Frost/Nixon opposite Kevin Bacon. Small screen credits include docu-drama Einstein And Eddington and Joe's Palace.
