Awards season is on the horizon and what better way to ring in the new year than with the Golden Globes (Jan. 7, CTV/NBC)? The Hollywood Foreign Press, which honours the best of TV and film at the annual event, has just released a partial list of celebrities lined up to pass out golden statues – and it doesn’t disappoint!
Presenters will include Kelly Clarkson, Kerry Washington, Halle Berry, Seth Rogan, Emma Watson, Penélope Cruz, Chris Hemsworth, Neil Patrick Harris, Amy Poehler, Gal Gadot, Ricky Martin, Sarah Jessica Parker, Sharon Stone, Alicia Vikander and Hugh Grant. Seth Meyers of Late Night will be hosting the lavish evening in Beverly Hills.
If the list of presenters isn’t impressive enough, the nominees from some of the most talked-about shows and films of the year will be there, too. From Claire Foy of The Crown to Jessica Chastain (Molly’s Game ) to Reese Witherspoon (Big Little Lies), there are endless big names to root for.
While the 75 th annual telecast will have no shortage of star power, an awards show isn’t an awards show without an equally as awe-worthy red carpet. However, celebrity arrivals may not sparkle as much as they have in years past, as more and more female stars are expected to wear black in solidarity against inequality in their industry, which has been at the centre of multiple assault and abuse allegations implicating the likes of Harvey Weinstein, Kevin Spacey and Louis C.K. Expect to see male stars such as Dwayne Johnson, Tom Hiddleston and Garrett Hedlund take part in the movement, too – their celebrity stylist, Ilaria Urbinati, announced that the men she will be dressing will be wearing black.
Because everyone keeps asking me... YES, the men WILL be standing in solidarity with women on this wearing-all-black movement to protest against gender inequality at this year’s Golden Globes. At least ALL MY GUYS will be. Safe to say this may not be the right time to choose to be the odd man out here... just sayin...
