Kate turns photographer as she snaps baby elephants and rhinos on safari

The Duchess of Cambridge, neé Kate Middleton, was quick to whip out her camera while on a safari in India's Kaziranga National Park on Wednesday morning (Apr. 13). Joined by her husband, Prince William, the keen photographer put her skills to work when she caught sight of rhinos and baby elephants nearby.

The couple were then left to finish their journey without the media and just a few protection officers. With the animals roaming freely in the fields, Kate decided to take out her Canon DSLR camera to capture some of her own photos.

The couple were lucky enough to spot more rhinos and a herd of elephants and baby elephants. Kate will have likely used the private time to snap away, taking photos for her personal album that she can show her children Prince George and Princess Charlotte when she goes home.

During a visit to a community centre in Panbari, on the border of the Kaziranga National Park, the Duchess had said that she missed her brood but couldn't bring them to India, as George would have been "too naughty".

Photography is one of Kate's many passions that she has shared with members of the public. The creative royal has released various photos of George and Charlotte that she took herself, including Charlotte's first official portraits.

She honed her skills well before joining the royal family. When she worked within Party Pieces, a family company owned and run by her parents Carole and Michael Middleton, Kate lent her photography skills to the business.

She has also been spotted taking photos during official engagements, although this is a rare sighting. In 2012 when she and William visited Borneo, Kate showed off her skills in the jungle by taking a series of stunning shots that were later released to the public.

In one picture, an orangutan peers down at his royal watcher, while another shows the impressive peaks of Mount Kinabalu – the highest point in Borneo – whose misty peaks were photographed while Kate was on the plane.

The Duchess also stepped behind the lens while on an official tour of Canada, again with William. She was pictured sweetly taking snaps of her husband as he tried out helicopter manoeuvres called "water birding" across Dalvay lake in Charlottetown.
