The end of this month brings a very special day in Queen Rania of Jordan's household. On 30 January the family had a double celebration – the birthdays of King Abdullah and Prince Hashem.
Rania shared photos from the happy occasion on her Instagram account, including one of the birthday boys blowing out candles on a delicious-looking chocolate cake. And Hashem's sweatshirt in the family snap reveals him to be a fan of Football Club Barcelona.
In another picture, the couple pick up Hashem – their youngest child – from school.
The Jordanian queen also posted a photo of her husband holding a younger, blond Hashem which a picture of the king as a little baby in the arms of his father, King Hussein.
The caption accompanying the image read: "30th of January … I'm indebted to this day. Happy Birthday to my King and my Prince"
King Abdullah – son of the late King Hussain and Britain-born Princess Muna al-Hussein – turned 52 on Thursday. Prince Hashem, meanwhile has just turned nine.
The little prince no doubt got the chance to celebrate with his siblings, 17-year-old Princess Iman and 13-year-old Princess Salma. But his 19-year-old brother, Crown Prince Hussein, was unable to be there.
Hussein is currently studying at Georgetown University's School of Foreign Service in Washington, DC majoring in political science. His little brother was very much in his thoughts, however – and the crown prince posted an Instagram picture of the two together with the caption: "Wishing my younger brother Hashem a very happy birthday, can't wait to see you."
King Abdullah spent some of his birthday visiting patients at the King Hussein Cancer Centre, as was documented by Rania on her Instagram.
