Princess Madeleine of Sweden has posted a touching tribute to her tiny newborn daughter. "We are so happy to have Leonore in our life," the proud new mum wrote on her Facebook page, alongside a sweet snapshot of her two-week-old baby's hand clutching her finger.
"She is a little angel and like her name, she brings sunshine even on cloudy days. From the bottom of our hearts, we would like to thank each and every one of you for your lovely best wishes for our daughter. She feels very loved."
Madeleine and her husband Chris O'Neill welcomed their first child together on 20 February. Little Leonore Lilian Maria is the fifth-in-line to the Swedish throne.
As keen users of social media, the couple have kept followers updated on news of their beautiful daughter via Madeleine's Facebook page.
The new mum shared the first photo of her newborn on 23 February, just three days after her arrival. The snapshot
shows Madeleine and Chris in the corridor of the hospital, with Leonore
peacefully sleeping in a car seat, wrapped up in a blanket.
The little girl's name was revealed six days after her birth. In keeping with tradition, King Carl XVI Gustaf announced the news at a meeting of the Cabinet Council, with first-in-line to the throne Princess Victoria by his side.
The King and his wife Queen Silvia flew to New York shortly after Leonore's arrival to meet their brand new granddaughter.
"We know today both happiness and warm thanks," they wrote upon hearing the news. "Our joy is great. We wish now that Princess Madeleine and Christopher get peace and quiet and can take advantage of this unique time with their little daughter."
Madeleine and Chris live together in New York, the city they have called home for several years. The Princess works for the non-profit World Childhood Foundation, founded by her mother Queen Silvia.
