Isn’t she lovely! When the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, née Kate Middleton, introduced the world to their baby girl, Princess Charlotte Elizabeth Diana, it was hard not to gasp at how beautiful and serene the newborn was. Despite a frenzy of cheering from hundreds of royal fans outside the Lindo Wing, the Princess of Cambridge was the picture of peaceful perfection in mom's arms and, later, as dad swept her into the car in a carrier.
Though she was just hours old, the monarchy's newest princess bared a resemblance to brother George, who was on hand to visit his new sister a few hours after her birth. Princess Charlotte shares her 21-month-old sibling’s full lips and perky nose, and it seems the Cambridge kids were born with a similar amount of hair.
Princess Charlotte’s proud parents couldn’t keep their eyes off their second child, pausing from gazing adoringly at their little girl to wave to cameras outside the Lido Wing. Born at a healthy 8 lb 3 oz., the fourth in line to the throne weighed just three ounces less than her brother at the time of his birth.
When William and Kate stepped outside of St Mary’s hospital to introduce the Princess of Cambridge, William protectively held Kate’s hand as she descended the steps outside the Lindo Wing carrying their bundle of joy.
The duchess wore a sunny yellow dress by Jenny Packham, while her little girl – sure to be a style-icon in her own right – was swaddled in a delicate G. Hurt & Son blanket with a cream-coloured knit bonnet on her head. The retailer was also behind the super-fine, merino-wool shawls that cradled Prince George and Prince William on their big debuts outside the luxurious wing of St Mary's Hospital.
