The Swedish monarchy has released adorable photos of the latest addition to the royal family, Princess Madeleine and husband Christopher O’Neill’s baby boy. Weighing in at six pounds and eight ounces, the bundle of joy arrived on June 15 - just two days after his parents attended his uncle Carl Philip’s wedding to Princess Sofia.
“On Monday June 15 at 1.45pm Princess Madeleine and Christopher O'Neill had a son at Danderyd hospital,” the Swedish Royal Court shares in an announcement posted on the monarchy’s official website. “Princess Madeleine have now left the hospital and the entire family are now home.” In his first portraits, the young prince, is seen peacefully sleeping in a cozy grey sleep set. His name is expected to be released sometime over the next few days.
Prince Carl Philip and Princess Sofia's lavish wedding was the last engagement for King Carl Gustaf and Queen Silvia's youngest before taking her maternity leave. She will surely take some time at home with her new addition, who joins the couple's first child, one-year-old Princess Leonore, before packing up and moving to Chris's native Britain, where they will raise their growing brood.
The royal couple's newborn son is the King and Queen’s third grandchild after big sister Leonore and Princess Estelle, 3, who is daughter to Crown Princess Victoria and Prince Daniel. All eyes will now be on newlyweds Prince Carl Philip and Princess Sofia to see if they will be the family’s newest set of parents.
This happy occasion tops off a busy few years for the royal couple. After tying the knot on June 8, 2013, during a lavish ceremony in Stockholm, Madeleine and Christopher welcomed their daughter less than a year later.
