A month after tying the knot in a stunning wedding ceremony in Sweden, Prince Carl Philip and his beautiful bride, Princess Sofia, made their first public appearance as a married couple at the Scandinavian Touring Car Championships.
Race-car driver Carl Philip, 36, returned to the circuit after enjoying a three-week honeymoon in Fiji. With Sofia and his father, King Carl CVI Gustaf, cheering him on, the prince cruised his way to the top of the podium, finishing the race in first place. After a spray of celebratory champagne, Carl Philip rushed to receive the best prize of all, a kiss from his longtime love.
The couple reportedly spent their first few weeks as husband and wife at the exclusive Laucala Island hotel in the South Pacific. The luxurious 3,500-acre resort features white sandy beaches and oceanfront villas complete with private pools. The island oasis has seen its fair share of celebrity guests, including supermodel Elle Macpherson, who in 2013 married Jeffrey Soffer at the resort during an intimate ceremony.
The joyful newlyweds, who said "I do" on June 13, are still basking in the love that surrounded them at their nuptials. With Princesses Victoria and Madeleine fighting back tears as they watched their only brother say ‘I do,’ the couple pledged their devotion to one another in front of 550 guests at Sweden’s Royal Chapel in Stockholm. The monarchy’s young heir, Princess Estelle, mastered her very important role as ring bearer while outside the church, thousands of well wishes lined the streets to greet the prince and their new princess.
