Princes William and Harry team up in festive soccer game

Sporty Princes William and Harry aren't afraid to get a bit muddy, especially when it comes time to play in their annual charity soccer match. The royal duo hit the pitch near the Queen's Sandringham estate in Castle Rising in Norfolk. The brothers usually love to face off on opposing teams, but this year they teamed up and played together for the Black Horse Inn, a pub close to William and Kate's Anmer Hall residence.

Defying the 40mph winds and torrential rain, more than 200 people came to watch the local game and cheer on Prince Charles’ sons. Although Harry is known for his love of rugby, the 31-year-old looked like he was thoroughly enjoying himself and the opportunity to play alongside his brother and other local residents.

Despite their enthusiastic performances, neither of the Princes managed to score, instead having the limelight stolen from them by a 13-year-old boy who scored three times.

This has been a special holiday period for William as it has been the first Christmas he has celebrated as a father-of-two. Despite looking forward to the holiday, the 33-year-old revealed he wasn’t expecting to get much sleep due to Prince George’s excitement.

"George will be bouncing around like a rabbit," he said adding: "I think he will be extremely bouncy this year because he’s suddenly worked out what Christmas is all about. If I get any sleep on Christmas Eve it’ll be good."

On Christmas day, William and Kate decided to leave their children at home as they attended a traditional service at the nearby St Mary Magdalene Church. The couple were joined by Prince Harry, his father Charles and the Queen. Despite the bad weather, the royals greeted well-wishers that had camped outside the church to wish the royal family a merry Christmas.
