Sweet photos from King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima's wedding

After controversy surrounded their engagement, The Prince of Orange said he would renounce the throne if necessary so long as he could be with the woman he loved, Máxima Zorreguieta.
The blonde soon won over those who had objected to the fact that her father was a former minister in Argentina's military dictatorship, accepting her on her own merits and personable character.
Instead of renouncing the throne, Willem-Alexander was crowned king on April 30, 2013, with Máxima by his side.

On February 2, 2002, the couple wed.
In a simple, champagne-coloured silk dress with a high neck, lace veil and five-metre train, and drenched in diamonds, Máxima looked every inch the Princess of Orange that she was about to become.

The 29-year-old economist had arrived punctually on the arm of her soon-to-be husband, Crown Prince Willem-Alexander of the Netherlands, at Amsterdam's former stock exchange Beurs van Beurlage for the civil ceremony.

Following the ceremony, Willem-Alexander and Máxima left the Beurs van Berlage arm in arm. Their first action as man and wife was to call Máxima's parents, who were watching the ceremony in London.

The kiss seemed to be eternal as Willem-Alexander and his wife, the newly-styled Princess Máxima, stepped onto the balcony of the royal palace - which was garlanded with white blooms for the occasion - to wave to their people.
