It's been a decade since Princess Beatrice celebrated her birthday without a beau, but the newly single royal had her strong circle of friends around her. With her high-society squad in tow, Beatrice turned 28 in East Hampton, New York.
Beatrice was joined by hotel heiress Lydia Forte, who she has known for years, and oil heir Mike Hess, who has also just celebrated his 30th birthday.
Lydia shared an Instagram photo of the pair posing in front of a chocolate and raspberry cake and wrote: "Happy happy birthday to you two awesome people. Love you both xxx."
The picture, which has since been deleted, was "liked" by Nicky Hilton and Beatrice's younger sister Princess Eugenie, as well as Beatrice's ex-boyfriend Dave Clark, hinting that the couple's split was indeed amicable.
A source close to the York family told Hello! that Beatrice and Dave, who were together for ten years, called it quits about a month ago.
"It was all mutual and very amicable," the insider said. "After ten years together, they needed to work out what they both wanted and have some space.
"It could be that once they have had some time apart, they might decide to get back together. It's very clear they have the support of the Duchess and the whole family and they (the York family) are very open-minded about what might happen in the long term. The Duchess is very fond of Dave."
It's not known whether Beatrice attended Mike's star-studded 30th birthday party, which took place over the weekend, also in the Hamptons.
Taylor Swift and Nelly dropped in to perform on stage, with Mike even challenging Nelly to a rap battle. Among the famous guests were celebrity jewellery Lorraine Schwartz, who took to Instagram to share some videos of the entertainment on the night.
A video of Taylor has also surfaced online, showing the pop star performing Dilemma with Nelly, singing Kelly Rowland's parts.
